The quickest ways for us to keep you and your colleagues up-to-date are direct TRS Email Alerts to members and information updates on our website, trs.illinois.gov.
Legislative action on pensions could occur before lawmakers convene in January to begin their work for 2013.
The General Assembly is poised to take action on a bill that would require all TRS members to make choices about the future of the cost-of-living adjustment for their pensions as well as their eligibility for state-subsidized health insurance in retirement. Full details about this legislation are available on the TRS website by accessing the "Issues & Answers" page.
We need your help to make sure that all TRS members have access to our Email Alters. Please urge your friends and colleagues to sign up now for the TRS Email Alerts service if they haven't already provided us with an email address. Currently only about one-third of TRS members are registered for the System's email alerts.
To sign up for TRS Email Alerts, all you and your colleagues have to do is send an email with your name and an electronic address to TRS at email@example.com. We will add you to the System and you will automatically receive the next Email Alert and all subsequent alerts. If you need to update your email address with TRS, just send us an email to the same TRS address with your updated information.
